Wonder Day 11.14.14 - Gordon Gee

My 38 year old daughter, Rebekah, is celebrating the second birthdays of her identical twin daughters, Elizabeth and Eva.

Rebekah is a brilliant young physician who is on the faculty at the LSU Medical Center and is the Medicaid/Medicare Medical Director for Louisiana. Rebekah lost her mother to breast cancer at age 15 and her young husband at 33, after having been married for only 18 months, when they were hit by an SUV while riding a scooter. She was very seriously injured and was close to death. Through a fierce sense of resilience and tenacity she recovered and continued a life of passion and service. Losing a mother, a husband and having a near death experience would most certainly crush anyone’s spirit. Not Rebekah. A father always loves his daughter. I am no different. But I am also inspired by my daughter. Daughter teaching father is a very positive change in my life and a powerful lesson.
